We are independent Person Centred planners working in Scotland who believe that good plans are an important step in achieving a good life.

That includes helping you think about any support you need to make that happen.

We can help you fill out applications to the Independent Living Fund (ILF), as well as carrying out in depth planning with you in person or remotely (through video calls).

What about quality?

Person Centred Planning doesn't have a fixed set of rules about who can call themselves a planner. We have made a list below of some steps we have taken to give a balance between checking people are who they say they are, and most importantly they have the right attitude to know that you know best and they are there to help you lead.

While it is important that planners understand the process well, the key to Person Centred Planning is the approach - not to take over, keep you at the centre and use a variety of approaches to record and identify steps towards the future.

We value people's lived experience as much as qualifications or experience and are committed to a more equal power balance when people are planning what they can achieve. The role of a planner can also be to help challenge assumptions about services and approaches, and we feel it is important that we don't fall into the trap of valuing the wrong things.

Planners often work in pairs and there a number of ways we will review feedback to help monitor how satisfied people are with the quality of support they have received from planners from our network.

  • We provide a space for people to list their skills and experience and check that they have the following -

  1. Evidence of their knowledge about Person Centred Planning and training they have had.

  2. Two references from people they have done planning with.

  3. Evidence that they are registered with Disclosure Scotland, have registered for tax if they are self employed, and that they have up to date Public Liability Insurance.

  4. A commitment to sharing and learning as part of the group.

  5. A willingness to keep their skills up to date through online development sessions.

  6. An understanding that we have the right to investigate any complaints and the option to remove people from the Network if there are sufficient concerns

  • A fair and clear price for the support (for work through ILF there is a budget which can pay for this if you are eligible) see more on their website here -
